All 2026 fares at a glance

The prices apply to the journey on the Kehlstein line bus from the bus departure point at Obersalzberg and include the lift inside the mountain. In your own car you get no further than the car park at Obersalzberg.

People with a severe disability of degree 50 or more receive a 10% discount on the standard fare; with a “Wertmarke” (the token on the German disabled person's pass) the journey costs €5.10. For groups there is a combined ticket with the Berchtesgaden salt mine (adults €53.40, children €25.90).

When the family ticket pays off

Two adults pay €69.40 on single tickets. The family ticket costs €70.90 – that is €1.50 more – and in return takes all your own children up to the age of 14 along. With just one child between 6 and 14 you save €15.70, with two €32.90.

Rule of thumb: As soon as one paying child is with you, take the family ticket. If you are travelling alone with a child, take the ticket for single parents: €37.00 instead of €51.90.

The fare sheet also says “25% discount on Fridays” next to the family tickets. Whether that applies to both family tickets is not clear from the sheet – ask at the ticket office before you count on it. The price calculator on the Eagle's Nest page works out the exact amount for your group.

The guest card: save €2.90 without doing anything

Anyone staying overnight in the Berchtesgaden area is given a guest card by their host – it is issued by your accommodation. The cards of the Zweckverband Bergerlebnis Berchtesgaden, of the municipalities of Anger, Piding and Teisendorf and of Bad Reichenhall and Bayerisch Gmain are accepted. That comes to €2.90 per adult, and €5.80 on the family ticket.

What is already included in the ticket

• The lift. The 124 metres in the brass lift cost nothing extra.
• The Dokumentation Obersalzberg (documentation centre). The Kehlstein ticket counts as an admission ticket on the same day – otherwise €4.50 per adult.
• Your dog. Dogs travel free of charge but need a muzzle.

Not included: parking at Obersalzberg and everything you eat and drink in the mountain restaurant.

Buy online or at the ticket office?

Both work. The operator recommends the online ticket to avoid waiting at the ticket office – on fine summer days that is the difference between the next bus and the one after. The buses run every 25 minutes, the first at 08:30.

Honestly: Don't buy the ticket until you have seen the summit. If the Kehlstein is in cloud, €34.70 for fog is too much – in that case swap the order and go to the documentation centre first.

And the guided tours?

Day tours to the Eagle's Nest run from Salzburg and Munich. They cost several times the bus ticket, but take the journey and the changes off your hands.
