Jungfraujoch prices by departure point

All prices are for adults, return, 2nd class, in Swiss francs (CHF), not euros. In high season from 1 May to 31 October 2026 the seat reservation for the Jungfrau Railway is compulsory; the CHF 10 is already included in the figures below, because you cannot travel without it. From 1 November the requirement lapses and the fare drops.

The dashes are deliberate: for Wengen and Eigergletscher the price calculator returned higher amounts in November than for the more distant stations of Lauterbrunnen and Kleine Scheidegg. That does not add up, so those figures are not shown here. For these two places, ask at the ticket office.

The operator's advertised price – “from CHF 129.60” – is, by the way, the Half Fare Card price from Grindelwald. Without a card you pay CHF 249.20 from there, whether you go via the Eiger Express or via Kleine Scheidegg.

Why Jungfrau Railway prices are higher in summer

There are two fares. From 1 May to 31 October 2026 the trip from Interlaken Ost costs CHF 261.20 plus the CHF 10 reservation. From 1 November until the current price list ends on 12 December 2026 it is CHF 224.40, and the reservation is optional. That is a difference of CHF 46.80 per person – for the same trains, the same line, the same glacier.

For the period from 13 December 2026 the price calculator was not yet showing any prices on the day we checked.

Rule of thumb: If you are free to choose the date and are only going for the view, you save a good 17% in November without any card at all. Two adults from Interlaken: CHF 448.80 instead of CHF 542.40.

What children cost at the Jungfraujoch

Children up to the age of 5 travel free. Children aged 6 to 15 pay CHF 20 – or nothing if they have a Junior Card or a Children's Co-travelcard. According to the operator, both are available for CHF 30 per child at any SBB station. In high season children also need the CHF 10 reservation.

With the Jungfrau Travel Pass, children aged 6 to 15 pay a flat CHF 30 for the whole pass. Whether the Junior Card is valid alongside it is answered differently by the operator in two places – ask when you buy.

Jungfraujoch on a budget: what really saves money

Four ways bring the price down. Some of them rule each other out – the Good Morning Ticket cannot be combined with any card.

The Good Morning Ticket

If you travel without any discount card, you get 20% off on the first two connections of the day. From Interlaken Ost these are the trains at 07:04 and 07:34, arriving at the top at 08:41 and 09:11. On the way down you have to leave the Jungfraujoch by 13:17 at the latest; from Eigergletscher or Kleine Scheidegg you can then take your time. The operator quotes a price “from CHF 190.40” but does not break it down by departure point – you only see the exact amount in the booking.

If you miss the time, the conductor charges the difference from the normal price plus a CHF 10 handling fee; according to the operator a CHF 90 fine is also possible. The ticket can no longer be rebooked on the day of travel.

Honestly: 20% sounds good, but every card beats the Good Morning Ticket. With a Half Fare Card you pay CHF 140.60 and can stay at the top all day. The early ticket is only worth it if you really have no card, do not want to buy one and like getting up early. On the day we checked, the operator's overview page also said 15% instead of 20% – rely on the price in the booking.

What the price includes – and what it doesn't

• Included: the whole train journey from your departure point, either via Grindelwald Terminal and the Eiger Express or via Lauterbrunnen, Wengen and Kleine Scheidegg.
• Included in our figures: the seat reservation in high season, CHF 10 for the return journey.
• Not included: your dog. It travels free as far as Eigergletscher; for the section to the Jungfraujoch and back it costs CHF 30 – at the ticket office only, not online.
• Not included: food and drink at the top.

Worked example: family from Interlaken, high season

Two adults, two children aged 8 and 12. Without any card: 2 × 271.20 + 2 × 30 = CHF 602.40. With two Half Fare Cards: 2 × 140.60 + 2 × 30 = CHF 341.20. With Junior Cards for the children, CHF 301.20 remains on the mountain, plus a one-off CHF 60 for the two cards.
